May 1, 2018 (Indianapolis, Ind.) – Global Gifts, www.globalgiftsft.com, a local nonprofit, Fair Trade retail store will be celebrating World Fair Trade Day at all four of its locations in central Indiana and Ohio, on Saturday May 12th.
World Fair Trade Day is celebrated on the second Saturday of May and is endorsed by the World Fair Trade Organization, the global authority on Fair Trade, comprised of over 450 member organizations from 75 countries around the world.
“We are excited to celebrate World Fair Trade Day and educate the public about what Fair Trade truly means,” expressed Sam Carpenter, Executive Director of Global Gifts. “Fair Trade is a strategy for alleviating poverty by creating positive trading conditions and respect for all involved. As members of this movement we provide a fair wage to artisans around the world and ensure safe and dignified working conditions.
Each Global Gifts location will have music and ongoing activities throughout the day. From jewelry and home goods to toys and food items, all of the stores will showcase quality, handmade, one-of-a-kind items.
“Our products come from artisans from more than 40 countries around the world, each with a unique story,” explained Carpenter. “We introduce new offerings all the time so there are new treasures to discover with each visit.”
