Community Nights and Black Friday Sales Put More Than $2,700 in the Pockets of Local and Fair Trade Partners

Each holiday season, Global Gifts stores share a portion of their proceeds with fair trade and area non-profit organizations. This year, thanks to strong sales, more than $2,700 will be distributed to participating organizations.

“I am delighted with this year’s turnout! It is possible to shop consciously during this time of year—your purchasing decisions really can put money in the pockets of those who need it most, at home and overseas,” said Kelly Trimble, Global Gifts interim director.

Indianapolis organizations benefitting from this year’s Community Nights partnership include Best Buddies Freewheelin' Community BikesImmigrant Welcome CenterIndiana Recycling Coalition,Indy ReadsKeep Indianapolis BeautifulSpay-Neuter Services of Indiana.

Bloomington organizations include Global VillageMartha's House, and Middle Way House.

Community night sales in Bloomington and Indianapolis resulted in over $1500 raised to be distributed among the partner organizations.

“This year was our best turnout yet,” said Bloomington’s store manager, Dave Debikey, who was thrilled with his store sales during Community Nights.

Manos Amigas and the Fair Trade Resource Network will split a portion of Black Friday sales, as will the Interfaith Hunger Initiative (Indianapolis), Interfaith Winter Shelter (Bloomington), and Visually Impaired Preschool Services. Black Friday distributions total nearly $1,200.
