She previously owned and operated ViAfrika Home Gallery.
After 11 years with Global Gifts, Sam, joined by his wife Alison and their son, will travel to Peru to volunteer with Manos Amigas. Their work will include teaching artisans about the benefits and responsibilities of working through fair trade; helping Manos Amigas coordinate a large training in Lima with Peruvian artisans; assisting with the development of an alternative tourism program; working in the warehouse; and selling artisan crafts at the local marketplace. Sam plans to keep a fair trade blog, which will be posted on the Global Gifts Web site.
Kelly and Sam will be on hand at Global Gifts’ grand opening of the 86th Street store in its new location, Nora Plaza, 1300 E. 86th Street, a few doors north of Whole Foods. Drop by September 9 and 10 to meet Kelly and wish Sam safe travels.
